How to say "Thank You"......

On Wednesday, November 11th, and again on Monday, November 16, we will show our respect and our thanks -- and memorialize those who have given so much so that we (that's you and me) can live in a free society.

Yes-- Veterans Day - formerly known as "Armistice Day" (...in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month....) is celebrated each year -- and we must never forget!

Please -- make it a point to say "Thank You" to those who are serving --and also to those who HAVE served.

..........

Most of you know that I travel a lot. I see so many of our men and women in uniform in airports.

I try to say 'Thank You' whenever I get the chance. However, sometimes it can be awkward - you don't want to interupt or disturb.

Sooooo...........how do you say 'Thank You' without feeling that you're imposing?

Our Camaro Comrade, Jan Mellor sends the following link -- and I hope you'll share this with your friends, family, and club members -- as well as sharing with the various Enthusiast sites that you frequent.

GO HERE TO WATCH AND LEARN A VERY SIMPLE WAY TO SAY "THANK YOU" >>>

Also of note:

Several businesses are honoring our Active Duty Men and Women as well as Veterans:

Applebee's. Applebee's is offering a free entree on Wednesday to veterans and all active-duty military from 11 a.m. to midnight at all 1,900 locations. Although Applebee's requests some kind of military ID, "We're not going to argue with folks who might forget to bring it," says Sam Rothschild, senior vice president of operations.
•McCormick & Schmick's. For the 11th year in a row, the 87 locations in 25 states are offering free entrees to veterans on Sunday. The chain also requests military ID and highly recommends reservations. The promotion is on Sunday instead of Veterans Day, "because it allows vets to bring their families who might not be available during the week," CEO Bill Freeman says.
•Golden Corral. The 485-unit chain is offering free buffet meals — including beverage and dessert — to current military and vets on Monday, Nov. 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. No military ID is required for its ninth annual Military Appreciation Monday, says Dolly Mercer, national events manager. The event is held on this date, she says, "so we don't interfere with Veterans Day activities."

Outback Steakhouse offers a free Bloomin' Onion appetizer and beverage to past and present military members on Wednesday,

Krispy Kreme has free doughnuts.

Home Depot and Lowe's are offering a 10% discount to military and veterans.

Kudos to each of these businesses-- so the next time you're thinking about going out for lunch or dinner? Please consider one of these restaurants -- and when you DO - -make SURE you tell them "Thank You for recognizing our Military!"

.......I hope we (that's you and me) will make a positive impact on their bottom line so that they do it EVERY Veteran's Day.

Just want to say thank you to all who are serving or who have served, and a thank you to those who do stop and say a quick word. In my experience, its never intrusive or awkward, but it can sure brighten somebody's day.

Back in 1992, and occasionally since, when someone told me thank you I did feel awkeward. Back then we had much more open support than our guys do today. I allways wanted to respond but didn't really know what to say. It was allways like "Uhhh,, well, I was just doing as I was supposed to", it was weird.

Troops tend to be very humble, but I can tell you this, It really does make a difference. I feel more openly proud of serving, and it makes me feel very proud of our guys now. And considering the change of attitude as far as support for 'the cause' in the first place, the general feeling tricles down to our troops. So tell them thanks when you can. If you get a mixed or confused or seemingly embarrased response, it's just the humbleness you are seeing. He or She will appreciate it. I promise. I know.

I'm heading out to Ottawa for our national Remembrance Day ceremony. I am extremely grateful for the troops who were willing to risk everything for not only their own countrymen, but for those around the world who would be denied the freedom enjoyed here. I've always felt strongly about this, and after going to Europe this past summer (including Normandy on D-Day) to see the forests, fields, cities, and beaches where they fought and died has made it even more intense within me.

I will never forget.

Thank you for your post.

Served 24 years in the USAF and the NY Air Guard. Proud of every day spent in uniform and I now try to give back where I can to those that serve now.

Thanks to all Vets Present Past and Future.

Here is another way we can say Thank You.

Write, call or E-mail your U.S. Rep. and encourage them to support H.R. 952.

Below is a portion of an article by Christopher Parker along with the full article.

U.S. Rep. John Hall, D-N.Y., sponsors H.R. 952, a bill designed to cut red tape associated with claims filed by veterans who suffer from combat stress.

It's estimated that these claims will require $4.7 billion in the next 10 years, but the money is well worth spending. As soldiers, men and women performed their duty to us. As citizens, we must reciprocate. One way is to urge passage of H.R. 952.

We should also push elected officials to increase funding for Veterans Affairs. Moreover, we need to lean on them to pass a budget on time, as it has been delayed 20 of the past 23 years. For now, Congress has passed an advanced funding bill, a stopgap measure that will allow the VA to continue providing veterans with health-care services in the absence of a budget.

President Obama signed the bill into law Oct. 23, but it's by no means a real fix. According to The New York Times, more than 257,000 veterans have failed to receive their GI Bill benefits on time because the budget has yet to be resolved. That bill helps defray expenses associated with college education.

Along with pushing for more VA benefits promptly supplied, we should thank veterans for their service whenever the opportunity presents itself — including Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
