Greetings from West Texas
Hello! I just found the site a couple days ago looking for some info on how to reprogram an old key fob to a new car. I love forums - still the best way to share and archive information, IMHO. I'm a member on several different forums with many different genres: (Jeeps, Ram Trucks, '71-'73 Mustangs, scale model building, etc.)... which means I have a lot of hobbies and interests, but cars would be the main 'theme' if anything.
OK - so, 'why' did I need the info on how to reprogram a Camaro key fob? Well, it all started this past February when my Mom messed up her car [again] and I decided I'd had enough of nickel & dimeing her '96 T-bird. My wife decided to give up her '01 Grand Prix GT (72K~ miles and not a scratch) and find a new car. She'd been car shopping all day and decided she wanted a Camaro (I was elated, of course). We found one in Dallas (a Red Rock Metallic 2014 LT2) and decided to make the trip... except that she'd never driven one and didn't want to waste the trip if she couldn't actually drive it. We found a 2015 Ashen Gray LT1 here in San Angelo for her to test-drive... but, then she fell in love with it and we wound up buying it instead. We added some cool burgundy stripes and spears to make it her own. Last weekend, we were side-swiped/T-boned by some idiot on the freeway driving WAY too fast for 'just rained' conditions. It was totaled the following Tuesday, and we started looking for another car (the side bags deployed and we were uninjured, save a few bumps and aches - the car did its job keeping us safe... admirably). We found a super-nice 2015 Red Rock Metallic LT2/RS in Dallas, made the trip to bring it home on Friday, and here we are. ![]() We're thinking some cool spears and stripes in carbon fiber will be in order fairly soon. Fortunately, the cool Lloyd's mats and dash mat we'd picked up for her other car match the interior perfectly, so we're ahead on that. Anyway - that's the story. Thanks for having me! BTW - I mentioned being a car guy. I am also 'non-denominational' when it comes to cars, so all the sentiment of Camaro vs. Mustang, Ford vs. Chevy, etc., is lost on me. I currently have a 2012 Ram 1500 as a daily driver, with a 1980 Jeep CJ-7 and 1971 Mach 1 as toys. I've owned Nissans, Hondas, Pontiacs, Dodges, a Honda, and other Fords as well - it's all good as far as I'm concerned. |

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
![]() oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!
