Guess Who Makes the Electric Power Steering Units for GM's Recalled Vehicles

Quote:
GM spokesman Alan Adler said it will take time for the automaker to get 1.3 million new power steering motors from the supplier, JTEKT Corp., and GM will notify car owners when the parts are available.

i mentioned that in one of the other threads about the recall. most responses said that the supplier makes the part to GM's specifications anyways....

Don't think that's the point, GM and Toyoda are responsible for the final product, reguardless of the individual supplier.

Now if you wanna argue which is the better company, I'd bet most would agree with you. One voluntarily launched their own investigation and recall, and the other has been blaming it on the customers and refusing to take any action what-so-ever for more than a decade…

I said it before, I'll say it again. The automaker is responsible for assigning the proper specs or making sure that parts which are not up to spec are never installed. Either way, it comes back to the automaker not the supplier.

I would agree...

Something's fishy though, that this company is at the center of two such large-scale parts issues.
