"Polished" Rims

Just purchased a 2017 RS that came with the black rims. We wanted the "polished" rims and were told no problem, they would be switched out.

Recently we got a little scrape on one of the rims, and the "paint" peeled off! Revealing black below.

Are these supposed to be polished or painted rims? I have a feeling the dealer did a quick paint-over on the original rims.

Sounds like a painted rim.

Fifth gen models had Midnight Silver wheels standard with the RS packages, which had black undercoats.

I believe most all of the "chromatic" silver paints require black undercoats. (I know this to be true for the Duplicolor and the Krylon chrome silver paints).

The POLISHED wheels were a upgrade......when I ordered my RS, the silver wheels are standard, the polished wheels are extra.
