What's gittin' ventilated here?

These vents caught my eye... both sides of the car have them, so this AIN'T no dang ol' hack job, with car all symmetrical and such.

Just trying to remember which parts in the door benefit from the air that these vents provide. Was the Sunfire the one that has the twin carburetors in the doors? Are the transmissions located there? Is this the air- cooled leaf- spring version? Ram- air Fetzer valves?

If it was a Buick, they might make sense....All Buicks still have "holes in their sides"....

This "vent" looks like a mud scraper for your shoes....

Buicks have Ventiports. It's a very old hallmark of the brand that has made a comeback.

If they were going to make old things they used to do come back, why they didn't choose the 455 Stage 1 as the thing to make a comeback is beyond me.
