Cheaper Quality Oil?
I believe I have seen this topic on here before but I cannot seem to find the thread. Is Pennzoil platinum at Wal mart (which is around 25$) lower quality oil than the auto parts stores? I know for the same oil, its around 35$.
I get the ultra platinum from amazon for my camaro, however, for my '01 Acura I get the Pennzoil at wal mart. Maybe its just overpriced since it is at a auto parts store versus wal mart.

If the packaging and API specs are the same, I'd say its the same oil just getting raped at the auto parts stores.
Mobil 1 full synthetic 5 quart jug at walmart is usually around $26 plus tax. At least down here in Louisiana it is. Walmart has its own brand of full synthetic. I purchased that last time I did my oil change. It was like less than $18 for a 5 quart container. I'd like to know who is refining and packaging it for walmart. It is surely some major oil manufacturer with the walmart branding.....Super Tech. http://www.walmart.com/search/?query...head=mobil%201 http://www.walmart.com/search/?query...er%20tech%20sy a quick google search indicates walmart super tech full syn is produced/refined by Warren Oil Company. http://www.warrenoil.com/ Last edited by polizzio; 12-03-2015 at 01:54 PM. |
