New Z06 vs 17' ZL1 ... No Brainer !!!!!!!!!!

Why would you buy the new 2017 ZL1 at $70K (out the door after they add all the frivolous charges) when you can buy a practically brand new Z06 for 74k? The Z06 is the best American sports car made today.

Well, am I wrong?

17' ZL1 = $70k (More or less out the door).


16' Z06 = $74k (Almost new only - 9 miles).

Bottom Line: About $4k more and you got a brand new 16' Z06.

Two totally different cars. What are your plans for the car? Road racing, daily driver, any long road trips. My buddy has a 16 Z06 and it's a great car but he would never take it on a 4 hour trip again. After driving for a couple hours he hated it but rippin around town can't beat it. I have ridden in the 17 ZL1 and a new Z06 and they are totally different cars. Just my opinion.

Because you want four seats? Lol funny things is, the back seats in the gen6 are pretty much useless.

I would assume, someone would do it because they want a Camaro not a Vette. Performance isn't the only reason for buying a car.

Where did I say I drove a 2017 ZL1? If I had to use it as a daily driver, I wouldn't own a Camaro.

I love the new zl1..but after owning the current model I couldnt agree more with the OP. Back seat? Not even worth the mention and after that the comparison is demolished by specs.

I don't recall mentioning back seats? Excluding the useless back seats these two cars are still in a different class. The only reason we even compare them is the 650hp and the price. So yes, for the money, the Z06 is the better car based on specs, but not everyone buys a car based on the best specs for the money. For some, comfort, easy of entry and exit, insurance and many other items come into play.

True, so the question begs why doesn't someone make a Back Seat Delete? Imagine the hauling capacity? I also agree the C7 has minimal space and the even the cockpit feels tight. Imagine the ZL1, SS or Z/28 with a nice custom Back Seat Delete? It should be an aftermarket item for sure! It's a win-win ... Power, daily driver and hauling capabilities!

How did you like the new Z06?

The Z06 is a beast. Performance is amazing and the sound is even better but comfort in my mind is ok. I'm an average size guy 5'10", 180 pounds and it's a snug fit. Great for short trips or track time but not for any real distance driving.
