What I should get for first car/truck?

I am 15 and my dad owns a used car lot(which I work at) and I want to know what I should get as a first truck/car.

My parents want me to get an suv or truck.

For a car I wanted either a 1989 or 1994( year i was born) Camaro.
For a truck I wanted a 2007(new body style) or 1985 silverado 3500 crew-cab dually.

I need opinions on what i should get, because i have time but want to be planned out. Money for gas or for the actual car is no problem for me.

Truck. Trust us older drivers when we say that it's worth it. Less worry about scratches, and with a full size pickup, that dent will just fit in with the others.

Best advice: K1500 Silverado or Sierra. Extended Cab with short box/stepside bed. V8, 4x4, cheap, and tons of fun.

Effin' bulletproof. Not to mention it's no big deal to crank 300K miles in one because it will keep going until the frame rusts out. IMO I'd stick with a 90s truck, because if you start getting back into 1987 or older the more expensive it will run you to find a good running example, since it will be someone's mud truck modded up the wazoo, or a pristine show truck.

Get a sports car when your between 18-25. Those old camaros are not very reliable and you will put a lot of repair money twards it. either truck however will likely be reliable and cost less to repair. Not to mention you will be able to haul stuff.

also, insurance cost for a 16 year old driving a camaro would be awful. Do your parents a favor and get the truck. You can likely drive that truck until you have enough money saved up to buy a sports car with less miles on it.........or even a new one!

good luck.........and just remember..........your young........you have plenty of time to "screw around" in a camaro when its your own insurance policy and money after your 18.

Drive a truck. Your gunna crash, not because your a bad driver, or your screwing around, but because it's inevitable. Happens to the best of us when were young. Bigger is safer. Plus it will keep you going in the snow!

Id agree with Jabo K1500 is a great dependable truck, and your gonna have dings and scratchs...and probably an accident. You wanna get something thats dependable, you won't worry about dinging up, and you won't cry about if it gets in an accident. After a few years Id get a 98+ camaro and keep the truck for hauling, and dependable winter transportation.

94' Camaro! If you go for the 89' Get an IROC-Z! It's cheap, and fun to drive.

Thanks for the feedback, and i agree with truck first and "fun" car second. I like the crew for friends (sadly i have none haha) and looks along with the dually wheels in back.

Also, my dad who imo is an incredible driver and he had one accident, 10 mins after he got first his license he had the front end of the 68 mustang he owned ripped off by a semi when he pulled out, he wasn't hurt. After that he never got in an accident.
