Add USB for phone audio playback on stock radio?

I just got the base model 2014 2LS with the stock radio. I really wanted the mylink but the packages with it are just out of my range... What I simply need is to be able to play and control Music off of my iPhone, using the Steering Wheel controls for driving safety purposes. Will the usb add on allow me to do that? Does it need to be programmed in to my radio?

Also, reading on these forums, I learned that Pre-2013 stock radios had bluetooth audio playback, but for some reason it got taken out, and apparently the quality was bad? How bad? haha.. Did bluetooth allow steering wheel controls? I could always buy an older one, but not if the bluetooth is crappy.

Thanks for the input!

I don't think they have a PDIM for the 2014. The wires in the harness were changed for '14, so the older PDIM will not work, and there is no new one at the moment.

you don't have to get the whole package, If you can afford Mylink separately, like buy it from someone on here and install that. I think you would love that. Save up some money and get it. It will be worth it.

The Bluetooth does allow you to control audio through steering wheel controls.
