Those with a Camaro in storage... what are your winter hobbies?
Just curious… with so many of us putting our cars away during the winter… what other hobbies do you have until the warm weather hits and the car is ready to come out of storage? I guess I will start off. During my Camaros down time this year I’ve got back into the RC car world. This is something I used to do 20+ years ago. Now that I have kids it’s also something we can do as a family. The two on the left are mine and the two on the right are my boys. The one on the far left is a 1/8 scale nitro monster truck that does close to 60mph and my newest is a highly modded 1/10 scale 2WD Traxxas Slash. My Slash with the right gearing will do north of 70mph. They are really fun and can be modded just like our Camaros, but for a fraction of the cost.

I picked up 2 RC helicopters in the past year in the $130-$200 range. They are very fun when it's not windy. Also collect diecast 69 Camaros 1/64 and 1/24th, I believe I have every 69 Camaro Danbury and Franklin Mint offered. I have a separate garage for my tools and toys to tinker on so I spend quite a bit of time in there as well (having a decommissioned house furnace gets it warm pretty quick).

+1 to working on other cars
I also enjoy shooting, but I have yet to find a good indoor range near me in STL. Winters are terrible in the Midwest Nick C.

OP
Where do you run it the winter? I haven't gone yet this winter, been too busy, but I was a regular at Larry's RC the last couple winters. I rum a Stock Slash, brushed motor 2wd truck and an Associated 4wd brushless truck, both set up for Larry's indoor track. I have others, too, but those are the "winter rides." I'm also building one of my Christmas gifts, lol. |

My hobby just switches vehicles. Summer, it's the Camaro.. Winter it's saving this bad boy from beater status and turning it into an all weather machine..
Never without a clutch. At some point this thing is getting thrown out for an L31 350 Vortec. Swaps are fairly simple. lol |

Not in Storage, just wanted to share this though
So the one that obviously isn't stock is mine. I've broken nearly everything on it at least once. And then my brother got the stock Slash for Christmas while his son got the Stampede. So I went down for New Year's and we played, and we broke them, and we fixed them, and we broke them some more. Those that know, know it's an ongoing cycle. Dude from down the street brought his Slash up and so we had four going off this pretty sweet plywood jump in the yard, maybe 2 feet tall. Wish I could have grabbed some video while all that was going on. We don't get snow here often at all. I was hoping we'd get some this year so I can get some video of the Slash in the snow.
