Is this a bad idea or not ? all should read

We have a variety of welfare programs to help the less fortunate and we also have programs to help people to get back on their feet after some bad luck. I have questioned these types of programs many times, not because the programs are necessarily bad but because people tend to take advantage of them and use them in ways they where never intended. I have no problem with using my hard earned taxes to help the people who truly do find themselves in a difficult situation, but that is not what you typically hear. With that said, and seeing more and more honest, good people struggling financially, I started thinking and have a crazy idea. What about Camaro owners, helping other Camaro owners to keep their prized cars during truly difficult times? Now I am not talking about the guy who buys a car he cannot afford and has to sell it 3-6 months later, I'm referring to the Camaro owner who losses a job or falls ill or even goes through a divorce...
Just thinking how much a part of our lives our Camaro's become... the friendships you have made and are going to make, the comrodery and weekend events, the sanity a Camaro can give you on an insane day... some-days, its like a vacation from the pressures and reality of life almost every time you drive it, and now think about having to give it up, not because of something you did but something that just happened to you. There are many of us that feel this way about our vehicles.
What if we all put a few bucks toward a Camaro Help Fund. Something that might help someone truly in need keep there Camaro though a difficult situation. Well what do you think good idea or bad?

My vote is for bad idea. I think there are much better uses for donated money but end of the days it's your donation so you are welcome to give to any cause you feel is worthy. I forsee you have some difficulty getting people on board for this but I've been proved wrong before. There was a member who's car burned to the ground, they rallied a few Bucks together for that.

Funny I thought about this sort of idea as well in the past. Its a cool idea and all but might be hard to enforce and do.

Awful idea. Owning a Camaro is a luxury not a necessity. If you can not afford it then sell it.

OP. very kind gesture of you thinking of this idea. especially as we approach the holidays. however, alot of logistics would have to be worked on to bring this to reality. how would people pay, Pay pal, etc? who would monitor and oversee the fund? a trustee? body of people? and then to judge and make decisions on what is legit and what is not. and then disbursing the funds to the qualified party(s) and how would you ascertain the validity of the problem and ascertain the funds would go to keeping the camaro, and not used for drugs, xmas gifts for girlfriends, alchohol, or abuses like gambling, etc?
your heart is definitely in the right place, but alot would have to be considered to even make it attractive for camaro5 folks to even consider this.

Allot of good points and questions . I did think about them . I figured if this was something people wonted to support it would all have to be worked out .
Thank you for the kind words too

I don't agree that it is an awful idea, but I do agree that for the most part if you can afford a Camaro and have a problem with finances, the Camaro should be one of the first things to go. I know I would hate to lose mine, but it is a luxury and I could get by with a much less expensive car. I feel that it would be much better to donate to things like the USO, Wounded Warriors, RedCross, etc.

This also is a good point . I do donate to the Red Cross ,Breast Cancer and St Judes Hospital . But donating 2 or 3 dollars to this would not break me and my help me someday keep my loved Camaro ... just saying

I think your opening sentences were so rife with ignorance and stereotypes I lacked the will to read the rest of it.

I've seen things go on like this on other forums. The best way is to just rally for whatever member you care about, when it happens to them.

Those that can or will chip in during that situation will do so.

As previously stated, this is not a good idea. If someone can't afford to keep their Camaro, they have more important things to worry about. Namely food, a home and clothing. Plus the logistics of this would be nearly impossible. Owning an expensive car is definitely a luxury and not a necessity. If someday you are forced to give up your Z, invest in a Chevy Spark.

I wrote this knowing that some people may find it ridiculous... and that's OK .
It was a honest thought of helping people who feel the way i do about there car. I know it not life or death if someone loses there car but i give money all the time to help complete strangers . Why not a few bucks to help someone i may know
