best sites to sell your car

i'm trying to sell my grand prix (rather than trade) so that i can get more money for part of my down payment when my camaro gets here but i'm having a heck of a time finding sites that let you do it for free. does anyone know of any good ones????

Did you put an ad in here and other GM / Pontiac forums.

Autotrader is good cause in most big cities you can also get it printed in a magazine.

I put my G6 on Craigslist, got a call in 2 hours after I posted it, met the caller the next day and he bought it. All free and easy.

Just be aware that you should always meet in public and you should try to pick where and take someone with you. There are good amount of Criminals targeting Craigslist nowdays.

i put my grand prix on there on sunday and have done it every day since. i got a call last night from a guy that lives out of town a bit and he is HOPEFULLY coming up tonight if not monday night to look at the car. we already agreed on a price and he hasn't seen it yet. the bank is giving him a cashiers check so he said basically this.... he's going to bring the check (made out to my lean holder) and if he likes it as much in person as he does in pictures he'll take it. if not he'll just void the check. PRAY he likes it lol!!!!

i'm thinking that i'm going to meet him at a parking lot next to this gas station here in town... it's right across the street from the police department. i'm also going to call my friend who is a cop there and see if shse can be around the area when i show him the car! i'm so paranoid about this sort of thing. i'm already worried enough about the fact that he's bringing me a cashiers check and i won't have any way of verifying the check because both of our banks will be closed by the time he gets here!

and YAY me for my first multi-quote post! i finally figured out how to do it LOL!

Also keep in mind, if you have sales tax in your state: Let's say your new car is 35k and they'll give you 10K as a trade, you will only pay sales tax on 25K. If you sell it privately, you pay sales tax on 35K. You should take that into consideration with your asking price for the used car.

i know, that's why i was hoping to get him to do a run through at the dealer so that i am able to save that much on the sales tax, but he won't do it, so i have no choice really. he refuses. i need to get my car sold and he's paying me retail so i guess i shouldn't complain lol!
