Another Newby From Iowa

Hey all....just picked up a '12 2SS Convertible this weekend....let the mods begin (first one completed: taking the dealer sticker off)...next up some intake and exhaust improvements and painting of the engine cover.

says it's 400 hp..what will it take to get it 500+?

Thanks for all the help and advice in advance!
Steve

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Steve, that is a sweet looking ride.
That 400 HP is at the crank, to the wheels you have around 320.
First mods most of us go with are an intake, with CAI, and RotoFab being the top, there is also Varam, but i don't think they make one for your car yet.
Then headers, hi flow cats, exhaust, ported throttle body, underdrive pulley, exhaust cutouts.
To get up to 500 Rear wheel HP you will also need to add cam or super charger or turbo charger.

Thanks for the info. I figured the intake was something to knockout pretty easily right away. K&n work well with these cars? Or others are better?

Personally I would look into something other than k&n. As mentioned above the top 3 are rotofab, vararam, and cold air inductions intake.
