2001 Monte Carlo good winter car?
I recently bought a 2011 Camaro RS and it's getting to that time of year I will have to get a winter car. I was looking at trucks or SUVs but even with high mileage the prices are kind of high. I found a 2001 Monte Carlo with 50k miles on it selling for a good price. I was wondering if this would be a good winter car? I live in New England where we can get some snow and wanted to make sure it could get me through the winter. I drove Impalas and they worked fine. Thanks for any insight.

I had a 1998 Pontiac GP with the 3800 series II engine. I'm pretty sure the Monte Carlo is the same chassis/engine. The GP was hands down the best car I ever had in the snow. Tracked nice and straight, and never got stuck. Just make sure it has decent tires on it.

my 04 Monte has survived almost 10 winters of driving in the white stuff. I just have all seasons on the front never had any real issues, but mine is only the 3400 not the stronger 200 hp 3800, but it gets the job done.

I had an 03 Monte and it was great in the snow on all season tires.

Yeah I will be actually kind of sad to see my Monte go away after this winter, it has been dollar for dollar the best damn daily driver I ever had. It was comfy, decent power, all the features I needed (good AC, nice radio, power everything but seats), was good on gas, good full size trunk that could swallow 2 full sized suitcases and a carry on bag when I took the folks the the airport once a year.
