GM gave them the ax during their bankrupt stage. The last I heard is GM trying to sell the brand to a Chinese company.

That deal fell through. The brand is just dead now.

I think the increase in gas prices killed the hummer. Must be several hundred dollars to fill up.

Powertrain was no different than a Tahoe/Suburban...

Where have you been? The H2 was introduced a decade ago & the brand killed off 4 years ago. And the H2 (which I assume is the one you're referring to, based off your 'Tahoe' comment) still is an off-road monster, when it was introduced GM claimed it to be the 2nd most capable vehicle you could buy (H1 being #1). And no, it wasn't an overpriced Tahoe. Their chassis is more like an enlarged & reinforced Suburban frame. The main reason why people pooh-poohed them was because they were smaller & less capable than the H1. Problem is, the H1 is gigantic & extremely capable. You can easy back & still have an impressive rig. All that said, they're still my least favourite Hummer. I would gladly take an H3 over an H2. And an H1 over either of them

It was more the terrible brand image that killed Hummer. They were the poster child for the big, gas guzzling SUV. Nobody who bought them really cared, and they weren't really any worse than similar SUVs for fuel economy. But none the less, they kinda came to represent all that was wrong with GM at the time. So they had to get rid of the brand, when selling it off didn't work they axed it.

Funny thing is, Hummers are (supposedly) fairly well respected around the world. But in North America there is a ton of resentment toward the brand.

I'd still take an H3T. Those were pretty good trucks.

That was my favorite too, especially the Alpha model.

Hate and politics also killed Hummer. IIRC, a Hummer dealer in SoCal had a bunch of new Hummer's vandalized and torched by the tree hugger crowd. You never see Hummers in Prius loving San Francisco.

Some monster

I'd take an H1 Alpha (Duramax diesel) all day because that is a REAL mil-spec and proven off road vehicle and not some worthless abomination.

Im with Fen H3T all the way looks great and im sure it the option of a V8 right? Alpha package? Well I wouldn't say the H2 got the same mileage as most large Suv's I have friends and family that owned and still do own them and they are in the single digits overall gas mileage but most of them don't care, I mean heck look at the Ford Raptor gets just as bad but no one is screaming about that.
