What do you guys think?

my dad is looking to buy a 79 vette matchign numbers engine is original with 120k miles...all black black rims the guy is looking for 8500$

do you think that is a good deal? also can i swap in a ls engine to make it the beast that it truly should be?

the engine is a 350 v8

please give me some input if possible on what the car is capable of for an engine swap and what i should offer him.

thanks

well i dont mind dropping a load of cash on a car that to me has better lines than any corvette made after 1990...it just screams muscle...plus isnt a ls3 or ls2 crate roughly about 6-7k? that isnt bad at all

Send a message via Yahoo to CamaroSpike23
thats kinda steep for the mileage on the car, however if the body is rust free then its probably not a bad deal.

what would you consider a good engine to stick in there...nothing too crazy but something decently fast to be able to get rid of some pesky penguin wingin ricers...ls2?

Putting a modern engine in a C3 is not a cakewalk. Might want to check some of the c3 forums to get some ideas.

For little bit more money you can get into a c4 corvette. I am biased I like c4's more.

Its an auto so it has to be a 3 speed. Also the car is fiberglass which does not rust LOL!

i thought the autos were 4 speeds? and 100% of the car isnt fiberglass so rust is a factor.

Turbohydramatic 350, 3speed tranny. You will have to cut a notch in the crossmember to fit a LS style motor into a 3rd gen vette also if you are going to run a 6speed manual trans clearance will be a problem there too. But it can be done, just lots of work to get it in there right.
