Xbox Needs to get their priorities straight

The first ads for both systems are now out and it looks like Playstation wins for the best ad. To be honest with you judging by the Xbox commercial even though it wasn't bad, you wouldn't know it played games...*sigh*

And just added for a bonus the newest Playstation ad...4 min long and in japanese...but seriously THIS is how you make an ad pretty Epic

Careful now, you will upset the faithful. Heck I am pretty much what one would call a "fan boy" of the XBox and I still think MS is going the wrong direction.

I do NOT need a media center, I have one in my Dish Hopper. I want a game console, period.

not sure why you would need a commercial showing a gaming console can play games. if you didn't know that, you've been under a rock for a really long time. I like that Microsoft is showing what else the xbox can do. maybe it's because the xbox seems to be geared more towards me, because I don't plan on getting it for just playing games.

I've always enjoyed the PS commercials. They're generally pretty entertaining, and I think they made a great turn with the addition of Kevin Butler.

As a techie, I can appreciate the desire to integrate everything into one central unit, and I DO think it's cool that the XBOX can do so many of those other things, but it seems very redundant because of all the other technologies in my house. I almost exclusively use my system for video games, with occasional Netflix streaming. Maybe that's why the XBOX doesn't grab my attention.

I think MS went the wrong direction, then did good by listening to the critics and applying some changes. I definitely will be getting the PS4 first... but I will probably end up with an XBOX ONE as well... assuming they still have some of those good unique titles.

That add is to target the non gamer. Gamers are all well aware of the system and have pretty much made up their minds on what system they are going to buy. That add is targeting the sports fan showing them the interactivity it will bring to their sports experience.

And to the one that already has an HTPC, not everyone has the patience or know-how to build there own HTPC. I have one as well and it costs a hell of a lot more to build one than purchasing a device that is already has everything you need, plus a game system built in. I haven't turned it on in a few years either as its not that user friendly.

Xbox lost the console war from Day 1. They retracted from the original plan once Sony released their statement in not charging for games. Xbox is following the leader...

Not quite.... They listened to all of the people crying over the policy's NOT Sony. They are also marketing the Xbox one as a multi function tool not just a gaming console like Sony is.

Microsoft is clearly trying to take the XBox in the same direction Apple has gone with its products. Instead of being a game console, they want it to be a full entertainment system that integrates with all the other Microsoft stuff you probably didn't buy, like a Zune and a Windows phone.

PS4 is far from just a "gaming console". Never has never was. More like a "home entertainment" console, where Xbox 360 was lacking. Now they are trying to sway the audience into the same direction Sony has displaying for quite some time now.

And yes, Xbox retracted what they said originally because Sony wasn't charging and those "whiners/complainers" would have easily shifted in Sony's favor. Microsoft had no choice but to change...

Never have I seen the PS marketed as anything but a GAMING console.

That's his point they don't need to advertise the other capabilities they've always had the entertainment system end of it, videos, games, streaming media, music they've never had to just be a gaming console and people know that. Shit i bought my PS3 originally for the blu-ray player then didn't care for blu-ray much and ended up using it for netflix and gaming entirely.
