When will G8 production be shifted to Oshawa?

There are major issues with G8 allocations and builds, with most dealers getting very limited supply of GT's with limited options (primarily sunroof option). I know the main reason for this is logistics, if the G8 were built somewhere local, such as Oshawa cars could be delivered more quickly giving dealers more allocations and cars could be built on a more flexible basis to include preferred options and packages.

I don't think they will move it to be honest, because the plant in australia is pretty much just set up so they put a different front bumper and badges on from the commodore. I could be wrong but it doesn't make sense to move it. Unless demand really is that high, but it is just the new car pull at the beginning I think.

I think Australia, despite its distance, is still best equipped to handle this. Supply problems happen all the time with brand new models. Give it time and they'll get a good flow going.

But I don't think there is anything else slated for the plant, besides the Camaro. Thats an awful waste of space and resources. That plant is one of the best car plants in north america. Its great the Camaro is being built there, but to have 1 model for a place with a new 'flex line' just doesn't make sense.

I'm sure they have future plans for the plant besides the Camaro. Even if they don't include the G8. It still wouldn't make sense to move the g8 there...like was stated before alls they need to add is a different bumper and badges in australia.

What the? I thought the G8 was going to come on-line @ Oshawa after Camaro production ramped up? Why the heck would they keep importing them from Aus. where the exchange rates also come into play potentially increasing the price of the G8 when they could bring it in for cheaper for us from Canada??

I remember hearing something about this, too. But I believe it was purely a rumor. Something about the G8 only being able to be built in Oz. And Oshawa was for Camaro, and the "Zeta II" platform...

I'm not sure it's a 'future' so to speak. From what I remember...and my memory's choppy regarding this...I think it's more of a version, "Zeta II" is the Camaro-version of Zeta...or the NA version....like I said,
