Just got out of a few years worth of purgatory

I ordered take out food tonight. I couldn't find the money I had taken out of the bank when it showed up, so I paid with the emergency cash I keep on hand. The delivery guy got a crummy tip, which I don't like doing. That bugged me.

I ate and started doing some other stuff. I found the money I had gotten from the bank. And there is the same delivery guy going to my neighbor's place, as I happen to look out the window. Things happen for a reason sometimes

So I gave him the tip I should have given him an hour ago just now. Confused hell out of him, he thought I was complaining about the food. He also got a bad address from the restaurant and I helped him find the right person.

So I got out of a few years purgatory just now. At the same time earning a few for patting myself on the back and being a smug SOB. Life's pretty odd.

Good man!

I tip generously. I have a friend who tips 5%... his argument is that he tithes 10% to the Lord, so nobody else deserves that much. I say that's just comparing apples to birds. When we dine out, after we leave, I always have to "go back in, because I forgot my cell phone/ glasses/ dignity," and drop an appropriate tip so the servers don't get stiffed by the Lord.

You could respond with a couple things:

Jesus doesn't work for tips.

Jesus isn't cooking and serving your dinner.

Either will work.

If tiping the pizza guy allows you to avoid purgatory, then I should bypass it altogether with the tips I give bartenders every week.
