Shelby Owner Hopes He's Welcome Here

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Although I no longer have a Camaro, I've had two in the past and thought they were great cars. The forums for the car I have are getting a bit stale. I'm not interested in putting $8,000 in mods when it is hard to effectively use the power I have stock. And mine is a daily driver. I just wanted to stop in now and then and see where the Camaro world is heading these days. We occasionally get a Chevy owner on the GT500 forums and although some are rude to them, I always try to be polite. Both companies make great cars and I see no reason for animosity between different owners. Thanks again for having me.

Welcome to Camaro5. We have many other Ford fans here and its good to see things from another perspective from them. Norm Peterson comes to mind here, lots of good input from him. We have a big fridge out back, But wait, I'm Sorry Sir Nuke will be along shortly.

I never understood why people cant like both (or more).

Welcome!

Welcome! I like anything with wheels that smokes the rear tires and pins me back in the seat. A Shelby is on my list of "must-haves".

Welcome! All cars (well most) are cool. Many can appreciate different makes and models we just prefer one over another

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

I had a 2011 5.0L GT that honestly gave me some serious concerns. The factory fill was Motorcraft 5W-20 conventional, and the owner's manual said you could go 10,000 miles between changes. When I checked the oil at 6,000 miles, it was 1 quart low and filthy. I had a free oil change coupon from Ford, expressed my concerns, and was told well this car has 8 quarts of oil so being down 1 isn't all that big a deal. I also asked why, with an 11:1 compression ratio, were we using the same oil used in a 1.8L Honda? They said who knows more about the Coyote engine Ford or you? Well, obviously Ford but did the engineers come up with this regiment or did the accountants? Yeah they know more about it than I do, but I've never had a new car drop a quart of oil like that. The Boss 302 is a 5.0L and it calls for 5W-50 synthetic, as does my Shelby. That is a huge difference in oils. You finally come up with a mass production engine that can run with a Camaro, and you put the cheapest oil in it available? After ex-gf totaled the 2011, I looked at a ZL-1 but couldn't find one even used for under 55K. That was just out of my reach. Thought about getting as SS 1LE, and I'm sure I would have been plenty happy if I did. Had a 1996 Impala SS that logged more trouble free miles on it than any car I've ever owned. I'm interested to see if a forced induction car can go as long as that LT-1 350. God that was a good engine. I would imagine most of the Camaros recommend 5W-30?
