Wild animals getting brave!

I wasn't going to post this at first considering many of you live in places where the wild life is more abundant but here goes...

Last night I was near 83 not far from Bachelor's Grove Cemetery, it was pretty much a dark road surrounded by forest preserve, and I was stopped by a troop of Coyotes hanging out in the middle of the road. There were 7 of them on a pitch dark 55 mph road and a cammed rumbling Camaro didn't seem to phase these animals one bit.

One was so ballsy he walked right up to my car and sniffed it. Maybe their numbers boosted their courage?

I had to rev the engine and make some noise to back them off so I could leave, I was worried traffic would come up behind me and run us down.

Have you guys ever heard of wild animals getting this close to people or rather this close to civilization? For as long as I've lived here I've never seen Coyotes near or around Chicago or any of the surrounding areas for that matter.

It makes me wonder what they would have done if I wasn't in my car.

Never seen anything like that where I live. But at my grandmother's old house, there would be deer hanging around in the road all the time in the exact place. It was a long windy road about 7 miles long from the highway exit to her house in the mountains. Lots of cars drive up and down it, but the deer didn't seem to care. I'm sure once one gets nailed, they won't do it again.

I wonder if that reflects their predator population. We've had a boom in Deer numbers in Illinois the last few years. I can't believe they would hang out near traffic though.

Maybe they do it more than we think and we just rarely see it?

Maybe. I haven't been around that area in a good while, so idk if they are still around on that road. Could be anything even to the point where they just don't care lol

My mother was driving down a back road in their full size Chevy custom van, when she came across a bunch of deer crossing the road. After they crossed and started to walk off, my mother started to go. As she started to drive ff, the buck turned around and charged the van. It rammed the side of the van.

Plenty Of Coyotes Here. They're Not Really Afraid Of Much And Can Be Dangerous To Anything Smaller Than Them Or Anything They Believe They Can Take Down In A Pack.

They don't know to be afraid. A nice burnout would have learned 'em

But they can and will attack you. People want to be so nice to critters and I get it, shouldn't hurt things for no reason. But the idea what we're encroaching on them has got to stop, unless Man as a species decides to kill itself to help nature out, the logic is out the window re: our land or theirs

Badgers are mean as hell aren't they? I heard once they are as vicious as Wolverine's.

When I lived in Arizona we were always hitting the desert with our Banshee's and Sand Rail's, a trip to Glimus in Yuma to tear up the sand dunes was always fun, but in the desert you could find Viper's without even trying. It really is amazing how close they are to a town and there were always stories of people finding a Rattler in their backyard. One more than one occasion a Southwestern Diamondback scarred the hell out of me. You don't even know they are there.

Mountain Lions were also a big problem. Some how their population increased big time and right over in California it was common to find them cruising the neighborhood looking for a meal.

From what I'm reading here in Illinois the Coyotes are sometimes mating with domestic dogs and we are finding what scientists call Coydogs. They are breading their way in.

It's kinda freaky.

They have been living in and around Niagara Falls Canada for decades now and there are many reports of them killing cats and small dogs. They are often seen during the day in town and don't always shy away from humans.

Yeah, it severed a major artery in his leg and he bled out. I'm guessing he was in the middle of no where.

1. Approach the beaver with extreme caution

2. If it appears friendly, you may consider stroking the beaver a bit. But not too hard.

3. If the beaver smells funny, immediately retreat. If it tries to call you, let it go to voice mail for about a month. It should get the hint.
