Daytona Winter Testing

I just got home from running errands and turned on my T.V.(Speed Channel of course). They are showing Daytona Preseason Thunder. I don't know if it's a re-run or not ,but if anyone is interested in taking a look at the new Chevy "SS" tune to Speed Channel now.Sorry if it's a re-post.

Just about all the cars were not showing their paint schemes during the test. Most just had decals over primer.
Testing has been on for the last 3 days, today is the last one at Daytona before speedweeks but they will have another test in Charlotte before then.

I think all the cars look good, you can tell the differences in them now. I like the nose has the proper indentions for the grills, and the sides have the body lines actually formed in the metal now instead of decals. Too bad nobody stepped up and worked with Dodge.

I really like the way the cars look now as well. I wish dodge was still in there as well even though I'm not a dodge fan what so ever. I think it would be cool to see someone like Nissan come in. Just a thought.

I'm looking forward to the 2013 season because Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota are now allowed to make their own body modifications. For many years in the past, the car bodies were developed by NASCAR. Now the car manufacturers have some influence in body design and aerodynamics. The cars also look more similar to the production street cars in dimension and wheelbase.

Actually the body dimensions and wheelbase are still set by NASCAR. The greenhouse dimensions such as roof length, width and height are also determined by NASCAR.
The manufacturers are now making the sheet metal for the sides to resemble the production car, the hoods and decklids are carbon fiber, unfortunately no body panels are exactly like the production car therefore are not interchangeable.

More new 2013 car info: The 2013 season will mark the introduction of the 'Gen-6' NASCAR racecar. At the heart of the new car is a desire to see more competitive racing by cars that closely resemble their showroom counterparts. Here are some of the key changes that fans will notice:
1) Distinct body lines that match street vehicles
2) The "greenhouse" area is the same on every car
3) Longer nose and shorter tail to mimic street cars
4) Carbon fiber hood and decklid
5) New decals on windshield and roof
