Order New Windshield

Some people just make you think... Man there are some idiots out there...

I ordered a 2012 Camaro windshield from a local glass company... I picked the windshield online and waited for a phone call to set up an appointment. So eventually the company called me and I clearly specified I needed a windshield without remote start, with HUD...

So today the guy gets here to my house.... And guess what..... Wrong windshield......

So after the guy leaves, I called the company back and tried to reschedule.. I told them that they sent the wrong windshield...the lady then asked why didn't I go through my ins company... So then I started to tell her, I have a 2010 Camaro and I added the HUD, so I need the windshield that supports the HUD, that's why I ordered a 2012 windshield w/o remote start w/HUD .... She puts me on hold... Comes back on the phone and tells me, due to the non stock nature of the vehicle we cannot install the windshield and would be best to go to my local dealer for the part....

Wtf.... How hard was it to just send the right windshield I ordered...... I ended up hanging up on the lady and calling someone else... To avoid this from happening again.. I just told the new glass company it was a 2012 w/o remote start, w/ HUD.... So tomorrow ill be getting my new windshield.

Geez.. Some people just make ya think.....what an idiot....how can you mess up something so simple....

Silly question.

I understand the difference with HUD, why would remote start make a difference on the glass?

There was a box attached to windshield for the remote start... Plus no location to attach the rear view mirror..

I have an early production 2010 (vin 602) and I had to change the windshield after some kids broke it with a large beer bottle. The dealer never could get the right windshield and they had to install a newer type so the black box close to the mirror had te be displaced. Could be that you have the same issue. Early production boxes are more vertical while the newest are horizontal.
I doubt you can get an early production windshield because my dealer really tried to find one and could'nt. I beleive that Gen5 produced from 2010 (not 2009) are different and there are no spares left with 2009 production.

Since people want pics as of proofs, here are de damages.

Can you post pics of the black box by the mirror that you say is different? I have an early 2010 myself and while i don't need a new windshield it would be good info to have if the day ever arises that i need to replace it.

Sorry don't have any pics, the guy took the windshield back with him... But it was located right where the rear view mirror would be ( just above) All it was, was a little black box, no lid to it... Looked like something would snap into it... Looked like it was maybe 3-4 inches long and 2 inches wide.... I think it's for a remote start transmitter or something.

Original

Here's a pic of the original windshield with the box vertical. Now that box has been move horizontaly because they could't find the right one.
