Complete breakdown on new Gen V engine with video/photos
This new article today COMPLETELY breaks down the new GEN V engine: (not sure if anyone posted this yet)
Aha another member did post it: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=257322 (his link has more info) Article shows the engine disassembled and also has a video showing the engine running and being tested. ![]() To me it is amazing that they did this, and the new engine to me still resembles the old engine even though literally all the parts are of a new design. http://wot.motortrend.com/next-gen-l...ch-280365.html Last edited by 2001ragtop; 10-24-2012 at 11:09 AM. |

Cool stuff, but will it really be known as the LT1??? There's already been an LT1 (and LT4) in the 90s, and think lot of people would chalk that up as a failure because of the junk @$$ optispark ignition system being riddled with problems. LT-1 was also used in 70-72, which should not be confused with the 90s LT1, but when LT1 is mentioned one immediately would tend to think of the 90s engine.. I understand T comes after S, (LS, LT), but it seems there were on a backwards trend going from LT1, to LS1... Why not LR1? Or jump over T because it's already been done and go to LU1... People might say, "Oh the new Corvette has an LT1", to which the response would be "Oh those are junk"... What would the motorsports world call this engine? LT1-rev2? The LT1 they should have built in the first place? LT1 doesn't make sense...
I'm sure it will be a fantastic engine regardless of it's designation. I would have thought with all the new technology being thrown at the engine it would have been guessed to have a higher mpg rating than 26... I guess if it's rated at 26, people could easily see 28-29mpg hwy if driven right... Only time will tell... Last edited by Jason@JacFab; 10-24-2012 at 11:45 AM. |

LT1 is a great moniker in the sense that it indicates another era of GM dominance.
