Event Postings (RE: EMCC Barry's request)

The thread was closed before anyone could include any discussion, but Barry brings up an excellent point. Some events bring people in from all over the country, just like Camaro5 Fest does. Like the FBody Gathering in Atlanta or the BBOMG.

Could a National Events forum be created such that events which bring in people from all over the country can be posted and advertised? Even if people post regional events in that forum it would still be a great way to help get exposure for car shows in the area and a way for Camaro5 members to build stronger bonds with people all over the country.

Not a bad idea. There are some very big and
note worthy events and gathering them in one
place could be very helpful

This really isn't that bad of an idea. Just how much use it would actually get would be the tricky part.

Yeah but to be honest - even if it only sees a handful of threads per year it's still a great way to get national exposure for large events. Camaro Superfest, Barry's show, brings in a ton of cars from all over the nation which is why he was forced to post his event thread in each regional subforum to try and advertise it nationally (which is against the rules)

Thanks for the support!
Yes, one stop shopping for Camaro events that are all over the country. Sounds like a win-win for show organizers and those that want to participate!

thanks for listening!

Camaro5 Calendar

If you look at the tool bar that is at the top of every page you will see a Calendar link. This calendar has every event posted on Camaro5 on it. Members can add/edit/remove events whenever they want. Then at the bottom of the main forum page is a list of all events occurring in the upcoming 30 days.

Hope this helps.

The calendar is a good tool, but it doesn't replace the convenience of being able to post a thread - post updates about the event as time goes by, etc.

and as mentioned before - someone said it, near no one goes to that calendar page. Plus, having an event listed only 30 days before it happens is not a good enough planning tool for major events. People need the info months in advance to schedule vacation, etc...
thanks for listening...
