Name for the "New" GM

If GM goes into Ch 11 and is split to create a "new" company owned by the government ( ) for the "good" assets, what if this new company had a new name? Since this is somewhat of a fresh start for GM, since it is a new company, and since there are many biases out there against "GM" what if they changed the name?

If they do, I say go for Chevrolet Motors. Think of all the other mainstream manufacturers - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury belong to Ford Motor Company, Honda and Acura fall under Honda, Toyota, Lexus, and Scion fall under Toyota...etc. In most cases the corporation shares a name with the mainstream brand, with luxury and niche brands added on. Sound like a good idea to anyone else? Thoughts? Other ideas?

IF this happens, the gov't won't own it long. It will be sold to a private owner. I really
don't believe Obama wants to run a car company. What a mess that would be anyway.

I'll cut this off before it is thread-jacked. I've debated government ownership elsewhere, so let this thread just be about the name. General Motors? Chevrolet Motors? Something else? How about Camaro-Saved-Our-Butt-Motors?

Sorry to be cynical, but I'm having trouble believing the Camaro will save GM. It won't save them more than the Mustang will save Ford or the Challenger will save Chrysler. I love it, it's one of the best cars GM has ever built, but it won't pull them out of this mess. Personally, I think cars like the Spark and the Cruze will save them, if anything. Anyway, that's just my personal opinion.

P.S. What about American Automotive?

No single product is going to turn GM around but this Camaro is an important part of the any chance at succeeding in turning the company around. There are plenty of other products coming soon like the Spark and Volt that will be just as important, some like the Cruze are probably even more important.

No one vehicle will save a company, but the pony cars do go a long way. Mustang is one of Ford's top sellers. They'd be in a world of hurt without it. Camaro and Challenger don't do that kind of volume, but they have a halo presence that draws people into the showroom and generate positive buzz.

Oh that's not cynical, that is reality. You are 100% correct.

They won't get rid of GM cause of the global brand.

But GMC does need to go into Chevy. It's just a grill look company basically, like pontiac. (selling you a look on a rebranded chevy).
