Not the best idea by Shell Oil

They put out a contest that is basically a meme generator.

Check out some of the top entries so far!

Some of the better ones so far.

edit: I even gotten taken in by this...it's a site by Greenpeace. Still pretty funny though.

Technically there are not enough facepalms in the world to the person who made the decision to allow people to create these for an oil company. Seriously...nobody thought that this would possibly be a bad idea?

I predict these will be on the evening talk shows this very eve.

Just to reiterate, because it "got me" too...is that this really isn't created by Shell.

Greenpeace is apparently behind this site. It's still funny because a LOT of people fell for it today

It is absolutely hilarious...some creative people over at Greenpeace...hope they are riding exercise bike generators to run their computers and have a hamster on a ball to keep the mainframe running...otherwise - hypocrites. Any use of ANY fossil fuels and plastics makes their points invalid in my book.

There's people like me that think drilling should happen, but that Shell & BP didn't do a whole lot to maintain sites like the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico that failed because BP, Halliburton and a couple of other contractors went "on the cheap" thus causing the explosion that resulted in the huge oil spill in the gulf.

Basically, saying that Shell & BP are scummy corporations that seek profit over safety does not equate to saying we shouldn't use and consume oil.

I've never been a big fan of Greenpeace, but I also think wildlife and drilling safety ARE important.
