My '97 Riviera, that is

I bought it in 2004, as a one-owner used car. Was very nice when I got it, almost perfect. It was intended as a reliable occasional and winter car, as my 1970 Buick was my Summer car

Really liked it. Still do really. I wanted one when they were new. Good looking and powerful; it's factory supercharged. Used to bark third gear. I don't really beat it anymore. She's getting tired. Needs a paintjob, some TLC that I never have time to give it. Keeping my new car looking new was enough of a second job, when I bought my 2007 Pontiac

Only had one problem with the Riverboat, in 2006. Steering rack went. Oh well, used car. Had no real troubles since then until last week.

My '12 Camaro SS was in for it's first oil change, at 1500 miles, last Thursday. Riverboat to the rescue. Just last winter, I had new rotors, calipers, pads, and 'all' brake lines replaced

Well, on my way home from where I store it, the brakes feel funny. Oh oh. maybe just rust on the rotors. Nobody else is on the road I'm on. All clear. I test the brakes with a panic stop. Glad I did.

Bam, pedal on the floor. Burst line at the ABS unit. Car's in for an eval. With the other work the old gal needs, it might be lights out for the Riverboat. Starting to act her age. Needs the paint job. Needs struts/shocks. Tosses a code every once in a while that goes away after a few days, and only after damp weather. needs weatherstripping on the driver's door. All that for a car I could sell for 2 grand after I pump dough into it. Sigh. If that car was RWD I would sink the money into in a heartbeat
