Whatever happened to customer service?

I am sick of the attitude!!

I went to an interior shop to have a center console made for my 67 and explained to them what i wanted done to the shop manager and worker. We agreed on a price and when to bring the car in. Was told it would take 3-4 days to do the job. 3.5 weeks later i am finally told my car will be done. I go to pick up the car and of course its not done, but told them i would wait while they finish. I get an attitude by the manager and employee. The employee is upset he has to hook up the radio, gauges, and switches saying his job is to make the console not all the other bs...so where is this my problem. The manager said he is losing money, blah blah, blah. So finally got it all done and hooked up then i am told they have to take my chrome vents out of the car cause they belong to another customer and have to order a set for me. Well, they dicked around for over a week on getting them for me and i had 2 shows saturday and they agreed to pay to overnight them if i pay for the vents. I agreed. For a week now, i have been trying to get my overnight shipping cost from them and i get more attitude.

For those that might want to know, this was a $1700 console, and they agreed to everything up front, but all along the way all i get is attitude. Console looks good, and i want to do the interior over down the road, but why would i go to them. You have to wonder how places stay in business.

The nerve of them trying to make it sound like its my fault for something they agreed to. First the wiring and now the shipping. What about the inconvience of 3.5 weeks when originally told 3-4 days.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, AZ, but I'm not the least bit surprised. I don't know how old you are but "customer service" has been going down the tubes for about a generation now (20 years or so). Nobody gives a crap about customers anymore because customers have been conditioned not to expect great service. Anything that is late is someone else's fault. Anything that breaks is because of someone else's crummy install or defective manufacturing. Anything that is the wrong color or doesn't fit right is the fault of those who received the order. NOBODY is responsible for anything and YOU are an a**hole if you expect the service you were promised.

"Customer Service" ( ) is a joke to all but a very few businesses these days. It is a sad reflection on our who gives a crap attitude that is rapidly bringing this country down to the levels acceptable to therest of the world.

Okay. Sorry. I'm done now.

I understand completely, 100%.

Long story that I won't bore you with, but my wife and I ended up getting a restraining order against our pool contractor while he sued us for money he claimed we owed him. We settled w/o paying him a single dime. All we asked for was only what we were promised, not a single thing more. He undercharged & then tried to get more money after the fact - even leaving messages on my cell & work (played in court) calling us names and telling us people were going to come over to collect. Judge wasn't amused.

There are a lot of good vendors/contractors out there - it just really sucks when you get a bad one.

Sadly, the bad ones used to be rarities. Now... the good ones are.

Yep!

I didnt even mention that I noticed the morning after getting the car home the radio was sittle a little too far back and the fire extinguisher was hitting the cup holder and it needed to be redone, so i asked them if its ok to have them correct it when the new vents come in. Well, got tired of waiting for the vents so they said they would take care of the other issues in the meantime.
So, dropped off the car, picked it up the next day cause they said its finished. I call them half way from the shop just to make sure its all done(both issues) and of course they only fixed one..I asked why did u say it was all done then and i get more bs. Now i had to make yet another trip back to them to fix the other issue while still waiting for my vents. OK, finally got issues fixed and it looks good. Still no vents all this time, they keep blaming the place they were coming from. Finally they agree to what i mentioned earlier about paying overnight shipping so i can make my show. Today he was bitching cause we overnighted the vents when its been 5 weeks. Well, who in the hells fault is that! Those guys really dropped the ball, i doubt i will give a referral to them just cause of the attitude.
