Shift lever

NOT a Camaro guy but putting a 94 3.4L into an MGB. Have a T-5 WC from an 89 IROC and, of course, the shifter doesn't line up with the hole in the floor. To make it work I must get the lever apart. It seems to be two pieces joined close where it enters the top of the trans. There seems to be a rubber coupling inside the lever and I see no obvious way to separate them.

HOPE the picture works............

A suggestion for the future....don't put this when you are asking a question on a camaro forum.
