Whee what a fun day..
Well, everything was hunky dory last night, drive home being through the driving rain and all. It all started after I decided to go grab some lunch since my parents hadn't bothered to run to the store and it was just one more thing for me to take care of while I was here. Walk out to my truck..thinking nothing of it. Open the drivers door..
"Why is my center console open.. Oh SHI-" Someone had broken into my truck due to my locks..not..working. Stole my GPS, A coat, and some CDs.. Idiot left my $140 motorcycle helmet/helmet bag in the back seat as well as my $2K worth of tools. After I reported it to the cops, I picked up where I left off to run and get lunch. I walk around the back of the truck and look down just to step in what looked like runny diarrhea. Knelt down, smelled it, and more or less shat a brick. My rear axle seals were gone.. I got it over to the Ford dealership they did the same. "What the hell did you do to her, Mike!?" Luckily my truck didn't have a LRD, so we skated with the cheap stuff. Brakes were shot too due to the oil leaking on there (and having potato chips for brake pads.) 575.00 later due to the disassembly of the whole ass end of the truck, cleanup of the rotors, new seals, new oil, new pads, and labor, and the truck will be back tomorrow. Could have done it myself, but I don't have the facilities.. Wow, what a shitty day. |

Indeed. Same person broke into another car 5 houses down and stole:
-2 passports -2 Purses (wife and daughter's apparently )-2 wallets (metric crapton of credit cards) -Pioneer In dash DVD/CD/WMD device -GPS Guy was going on a trip early that morning and had everything packed.. nice thing to wake up to, right? I'm sure there were others by the time I called mine in. But the locks are going to wait. I've figured out what was wrong with them today and rigged an impromptu locking device. Now all I gotta do is pick up a .45 -_- Bright side of all this: I got to see under the truck at the dealership. For 100K miles, he said it was one of the cleanest 2.5 gen Explorers he'd seen. No joke either, I thought it was worse off, but it's now something that I may be reconsidering trading off after seeing it on a lift. |

zabo, i can relate i had some TOOL break into my 88 Camaro when i was in florida. i had a pioneer head unit and 6 disc changer in the cargo area. i kept the jewel cases to the CDs i had in the changer in my center console. i came out and my drivers side window was busted and center console was open. they took what they thought were CDs but just empty cases. i did a search of my car and the only thing other than the cases stolen was my sunglasses, a walkman and headphones (they left the stereo alone
). after i talked to the police and mall security ( ) i was leaving the parking lot i saw light hitting something shiny in the parking lot i got out and saw my CD cases were laying on the ground smashed up (no discs in them remember .

Thanks guys. It wasn't the end of the world though. I got the truck back at 2 and found that they had tightened the hella-slack out of my rear end. Truck rides and drives a heck of a lot better than it used to. Guy said it "had to be done to get to the rear end" but I know that was a lie. Some dealership's getting a case of Sam Adams tomorrow. Clean and drives great.
Oh, and as far as the GPS goes, it's no big loss to me. Turns out that I found chunks of the case in the grass down the street. Idiot probably broke it dropping it in a drugged out fairy sprint. At least he couldn't make money off of it, and that's all the solace I need. |

**Double post/bump for rabblegurr**
Guess what kids? Remember the seals they replaced? BOTH seals? Well.. they failed. Both of them. AGAIN! I don't get it this time, because they usually do really good work; but I guess Found On the Roadside Dead strikes again for this Ford. ![]() Better give me a Mustang GT rental to take my anger out on.. anyone smell burnt "My Little Pony"? /rant ![]() ![]()
