"off ever so slightly". Good!
![]() This is the kind of mistake that GM needs to start making more often ![]() I'm actually gonna take a ride down to my Chevy dealer this weekend. I've got to see this car up close. |

The G8 Ute is what the SSR should have been. Too bad it isn't an El Camino though
I'm kinda glad the Cobalt & co is getting a makeover, but so soon? hopfully they make the rear end a little lower. As for sales predictions, 3000 Malibus in the first month is pretty good, since very few people have even seen the car yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they have sold 10k by the end of 2007.

I like the Ute, but I think it would have made a better GMC. Since they want to focus GMC, Pontiac, and Buick down to a few models each and concentrate each one, the Ute would have fit perfectly in GMC's truck lineup, and I worry it will crowd out other smaller Pontiacs. I've heard they want to limit each brand to three or four models, so If we have Solstice, G8 sedan, G8 Ute, and G8 wagon will that be it for Pontiac? Will the "Excitement division" be limited to 3 land-yachts and a midgetmobile? That will be very disappointing.
I look forward to the new global compacts, and I agree a lower rear end would help. Selling 3000 Malibus in under a month is amazing. With cars like the Challenger and Camaro it is easy to assume that the enthusiasts will rush out and buy a bunch at launch, and then sales will plummet after that, but with a car like the Malibu it is pretty safe to assume those sales levels are sustainable. |

Some more info on the G8 Ute
http://www.leftlanenews.com/us-bound...ssibility.html The two things that jump out to me are the $31,000 expected MSRP (why would it cost more if you're replacing the rear seats with an open bed?) and the 6.1L engine (we have a 6.1L engine?) |

not currently(
)...and the Holden Ute uses the equivilant to our L76, right now....So it's either a typo...or a new engine
