Message to the mods
Can we have a dedicated sub-forum for "green" Camaro interests i.e. MPG calc, weight reduction, driving technique etc. I know we have a sports car and for the SS folks, a muscle car & that we should have gotten a Volt if we wanted to save gas.
However, there have been so many great ideas that have gone towards this concept of improving overall sustainability. Our LLT truly is capable of 29 mpg. It sure is nice to have the looks and the power but still be pocket/environment conscious as well. So what do you say bossman? Give us green-minded, red-blooded camaro enthusiasts a home?

Moved to the proper section...
Not a bad idea... I'm sure some others will pipe in and pass it on to higher ups...

i have a green camaro literally, and figuratively. On my LS with a longtube CAI, t2 ports, and straight pipes, I get 32-33mpg highway cruising around 74mph.
City however I like to stomp the gas, and put it in tap shift mode so thats more like 18mpg. |

I think this is a really good idea. I say the mods should at least give it a thought.

I'm glad you guys like the idea. Here are some of the topics we have seen that may find a home in this potential new sub-forum
- the ever-present "I'm not getting XX mpg, why / how about you guys" - D mode vs S & tests, real world experience, tutorials - weight reduction (maybe not so relevant as it is cross topic with performance) - "Look at my high score" - Premium or 87? What about this set-up or that set-up - "I put XYZ CAI in & now get XX MPG" - Does the turbo actually reduce CO2 & or increase fuel savings? - Have components increasing engine air flow improved fuel performance i.e. long vs short headers, full cat-back vs axel-back effects - Doing this tune gets you this - Body components that resist drag for reduced air resistance (wings, hoods, belly pan etc) - MPG saving tips & tricks - bio-friendly products (ahem Dylan here is your chance to chat more Adam's goods) - Specific driving techniques for city folk There are more topics I have seen in the general discussion section but you get the idea!

I'm all for the idea, but then it is going to be confusing as some of the following topics can already be found in a particular forum.
Quote:
While I do agree with a green forum, how would you propose to tackle the confusion of people looking in the Cosmetic Maintenance/Washing/Detailing forum to look at car care products and not find the answer about their product? I don't see why we couldn't say make a sticky thread in the different sections for things like that as they come up. Maybe make a small icon next to the thread title that says "Green" to make searching for "green" threads easier to find? I don't know what's possible, but that would be my vote so we don't end up with duplicate eco-friendly threads in two different forums. Thoughts? |

plus there is so much hazing in those other sub-forums when you try to intro these green/eco topics. Haters gunna hate, surely but it is so counter productive....plus it isn't fair to some of our community as it really makes their ignorance & stupidity shine
