Cool New 800hp Vintage Toy :)

As some of you guys know, my boyfriend's stepdad passed on a few weeks ago. Don was a great guy-- a mechanic at McCormick Chevrolet in Pigeon, MI for decades who had partial interest in his family-owned drag strip and a deep love of GM vehicles.

When Rich came back from setting all of the affairs in order, he had a big new race trailer behind his Tahoe...

and now we have THIS to play with!

Meet Donna, our '67 Sting Ray! She was purpose-bought to be a drag car by Don; we are going to make her a bit more streetable (Exhaust, remove the roll cage, [thank God he never "tubbed" it] etc) but leave the setup as close to this as we can, since it's really a piece of Corvette/racing history. Check out the custom 24k gold flake paint job! I can't wait to drive her and enter her in a few car shows! She's pretty rare, so I'm a little overprotective and paranoid, but I'm really looking forward to getting my hands dirty with this one The setup right now is naturally aspirated at over 800hp... talk about a beast!

Wow! What a treasure! (And you look great in it too!)

I have driven a '63 and a '65 recently...great driving cars...of course the ones I drove did not have 800 horses.

Thank you!

It's been raced at Summit Raceway Park in Norwalk, Ohio every year for the last 30 years, so we could technically take it up there and easily get a hundred grand for it, but I told Rich if he sells it i'll shoot out his knee caps And he agrees. He doesn't want Don haunting him. The car was Don's baby!

I have a love hate relationship with the paint job. It's actually real 24k gold flake... so it's worth a LOT of money. But its' original color was Goodwood Green with a white stinger, which would have been just beautiful I don't know if we're up to changing the paint, given the car's history-- but to get that same paint job done again would be all of $25,000.
