2004 Xterra
Im looking for a new winter beater as this winter beat the crap out of my truck. I found an 04 Nissan Xterra, 5spd 6 cyl with 95000 miles. Of course they said its in excellent condition, new tires, just serviced. It looks very nice. I am not trading as Ill still use my truck for brush and firewood. They are asking $8700 for it. I am thinking of starting at $7500. Being sort of new to the car buying scene, is this a good starting point?

Very good SUV. I had a 2002 and it was one of the most reliable vehicles I have owned. It is basically a Nissan Frontier in a mini SUV dress. Very reliable. At $8700, if I were buying it, I will offer $8700 out the door and let them work their magic and manipulate the #s on the contract to show a nice profit but in the end, $8700 total is what comes out of pocket.

That v6 is kind of a dog but far better than the 4cyl. But since it's a winter beater I guess it doesn't really matter much. Low ball em and see what they say.

Sorry for the lack of response. I wrote up a post but must not have submitted
![]() Anyway, I bought the Xterra. I went with my dad to take it for a test drive and after we saw how clean it was, practically new, we talked it over and thought the offer of $7500 was to low. We went back in an hour later and I offered $8500 out the door. He punched some numbers in his calculator (I don't think he did anything at all) and said the best he could do was $9000 out the door. My dad nudged my back so I assume that meant take it. This truck is sweet! I have sooo many plans for it. Now how to allocate the car fun budget....
