ATS VS. BMW 3-SERIES!

Motor Trend are haters I think. I like the ATS better over all still a cool article. Looks wise I like the ATS better for sure.

It all depends on what you like, the 4 series (which will be the coupe version of the 3 series) will look more youth oriented compared to the ATS IMHO, BMW's look more attractive to me. Cadillacs are still old persons cars and it's great that they are trying to change that image with the CTS-V and such but just can't see myself driving a performance car that doesn't look like a performance car. Nice interior though, shouldn't have given it the GT-R headlamps though

Also after reading that, it doesn't seem like they are particularly bias towards either car.....

It's true that neither of the designs are ground breaking, CUE will likely appeal to those that like the iPhone, and to be honest the transmission choices, manual only on one engine?, come on Cadillac...

I have been kinda disappointed in BMW designs lately. They are all starting to look the same! That rear end is right off the 5 series and I am not feeling the new headlights.

I want to see and ATS-V

BMWs are starting to look the same and Caddys are not? To me the ATS is a near carbon copy of the CTS designwise.....

I can't wait to see these 2 go up against each other. I like the ATS but a lot of it kinda feels like they are just phoning it in. THe standard engine is NA 4 cylinder with 200 HP???? The manual is only available with 1 motor/drivetrain combo? Styling really breaks no grounds and is basically a softer CTS than is on it's 5th year in production? I do like the styling, but am kinda sad it sorta looks old before it even hits the road. I do think they did a great job on the interior and the platform seems top notch. The turbo/manual drivetrain will probably be the most entertaining.

THe BMW is surely breaking no grounds with the new one, but the design does somehow come across and fresher and a bit sharper than the last gen. The BMW will offer the turbo 4 as standard, manuals will be available on all models and for the auto, the 8 speed auto vs 6 speed will surely give the Bimmer an edge there. The turbo I6 in the Bimmer with is far superior torque is the better choice IMHO. I don't really care for the interior, it just seems like they have been running the same basic design for 20 years now.

Bottom line, i agree with MT, it's really kind of a draw until both cars are really driven. I want to see a matchup of manual/turbo/RWD models as that is probably where the ATS will put up it's best fight.

I can't wait to test out a 3.6 powered ATS!

No they arent really haters at all and I without a doubt agree with them on their views of the new Lincoln MKS that car is a failure of epic proportions. As far as their views on the new ATS they just dont know alot of what they are talking about and once the ATS-V is released the doubters will be silenced.

I have to admit, I agree with MT's assessment in the engine catagory. The BMW I-6 is a wonderful motor...just as long as the high pressure fuel pump stays alive.

Yeah but Cadillac has always done that is seems, so I wasn't expecting anything different. The Last Gen BMWs look alot different from one another. I am really liking Mercedes new designs. (Minus the new SL! )

BMW's recent designs are becoming sort of ugly, in general. But there are a few improvements here and there. And although I'm a huge fan of manual transmissions, most of the American public is not, and to offer a manual transmission for certain trims does end up being a waste of money. Now if the ATS sold like hotcakes in Europe, then I'd see them adding the MT on all trims because Europeans love their manuals...

I agree, love the new AMG C63 coupe, the howling big bore NA V8, monster torque, and FU M3 feeling I get from that car just represents badassery to me somehow.

I don't really think that article is biased. They said the BMW has better interior capacity. That's math, not a bias. Same with an 8 speed transmission VS a 7 speed. Everything else was a draw or needs an actual driving test to determine.

Motor trend loves their 3 series, but they also bashed it a bit in their latest review. I really don't find them to be THAT biased. They are pretty big believers in Domestic made vehicles
