Please explain why Acadia is priced so high

Can someone please explain why in the heck Acadia starts around $32k when its competitors like Explorer and Durango start at $27?

Ive looked over all 3 vehicles and I see nothing Acadia offers that the other two dont. Is GMC just being stupid or what?

Acadia is a very nice vehicle but its way over-priced in my opinion.

If you want a cheaper Acadia, head on over to a Chevy dealership and look at a Traverse.

So is your answer "because it's a GMC" or?

More or less. I'm sure there are some added premium features that more or less justify the higher price. Thats the way GMC always seems to operate. The same thing happened with Pontiacs. A bit more content than on their competitors from mainstream brands but not enough to really be considered a premium/luxury brand.

There barely is... but not enough to justify the price difference.

GM essentially has badge engineered that SUV. In order of standard features I'm pretty sure it goes Traverse, Acadia, SRX, and the Enclave is the top one. It's pretty much the same car with some minor differences.

This isn't what you asked but it is a great vehicle. We have an 09 as our main vehicle and we love it. Just turned 37000 miles. I don't think the Traverse was out when we got it. We were comparing it to a Lexus at the time.

Badge engineering, equipment levels, marketing, etc.....That's why it is more than a Traverse or a Durango. It's priced over the Explorer because the new Explorer isn't worth very much.

Why would the Buick be above the Cadillac?

I think ALL mid/full size SUVs are overpriced once you start adding in options and awd. The sticker price on my 2007 trailblazer SS was $45K. I bought it used 6 months ago. I love it, but not for $45K.

Yep... and the way things are packaged... When we were looking to replace our Montana we looked at the Traverse and the Acadia... had 2 requirements: Leather and DVD. To get those two things in the Traverse it was more expensive than it was to get an Acadia...

Can't comment on the the Dodge, since we would never own one... LOL! And the problem with the Ford was the seating... we wanted buckets in the 2nd row and 3 seats in the 3rd row... Ford did not offer that configuration... GM does..

SRX isn't on the same platform as the others. Its on a variant of the platform used by the Equinox and Terrain.
