Prediction: After looking around the auto shows

Prediction: After looking around the auto shows, within 2 to 4 years every new car will have some kind of LED feature other then taillights.

Does Audi get the props for 1ST to production? (For non-tail lights)

audi was the first to toss led's in there headlights. but many cars and tucks have led's in there side mirror turn signals, for the longest time.

however led's are not very funcition at all they just edmit a very bright light, but doesnt project the light any where useful

I'm not sure when Audi came out with them, but Aston might have beaten them to the punch. The 2006 Aston martin Vantage had them...

hehe I thought it was a lexus in 2006? Oh well. I agree with the OP. LEDs and lightpipes seem to be everywhere.

Caddy offers a version on the Escalade platinum, and Ford offers them on the Navigator. Full LED headlights. I have not experienced them first hand, but they look cool in the photos. They were not the first. Didn't the Concept Camaro have LED's in the headlights in 2006?

If you want to talk about concept I would say Audi wins. Remember the R8 in the movie I-Robot. Production I am still guessing Aston...

This is hard for me to say, but I think you need to credit "RICER AFTERMARKET" companies.

The idea of LEDs in the headlights arent to illuminate your way, but to rather make yourself more visable. the human eye is naturally attracted to light so it will notice those things more often be it day or night. the question is which country mandated 24 hour lights first? several european countries require you to have lights on day and night. Germany is just coming into this requirement. the problem is bulbs burn out faster if you leave them on all the time. so to overcome this short life span Audi is now placing LED lights to run day and night because you measure LED lifespan in years not hours like conventional bulbs. it just so happens that they are using the requirement for the better and making the cars look wicked at the same time.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."
