Ford Expects Horsepower War To Continue

In this video in the end they talk to a guy that works for Ford and a viewer asks if someone really needs 650hp talking about the new Shelby GT500 and then asks are the muscle car wars horsepower wars over? Of which the ford employee replys with no I dont think the horsepower wars are over. So there you go they obviously expect Chevrolet to come out with a higher horse Camaro possibly 750hp or more to keep this thing going. Obviously we could all be getting 1,000hp cars from the factory the way things look LOL. Also this vid includes a neat walkthrough of the Peterson Automobile Museum in LA.

I have the feeling that all the engineers in the performance departments of GM and Ford are trying to see what they can do before CAFE puts an end to all the fun.

There are plenty of events like this all over the country, regular people just don't know about them. These guys are pretty hardcore.

Thats what I'm talking about... Headed there in March to see what Brandi will do...with a few tweaks between now and then...Hopefully my schedule will be such that I am off work when it's scheduled..

Every time I hear people reference CAFE standards I have to laugh inside a little. Those standards will not end performance cars, it will be the consumers not buying them that will bring their demise. Yes, manufacturers will likely produce less of them and it will require more money to get into one, but since it is the corporate average fuel economy that is measured, not an individual model, high horsepower/performance cars will have their niche.

I think people worry about the CAFE standards because they know there going to keep going up. I wonder how much performance car will cost when the CAFE goes up to 100.
