Thats why they keep closing Y's [YMCA]

Thats why they keep closing Y's [YMCA]

I just went online to check a 2 adult 2 kid membership.

Membership
Joiner Fee Monthly
$45.50 $45.50
Add 1*
$57.50 $57.50

Membership (Ages 10-17)
Joiner Fee Monthly

$28.00 $28.00

So that $115 for 2 adults and $112 for 2 kids, for a total of $227 for the first month and to join the Y. Then its $114 a month there after.

Just so they can go swiming 1-2 times a month when its cold.

Ill just rent a $30 room at the truck stop motel with an indoor and have a pizza party.

Even if I were to go work out, id have to work out every day to spend twice as much as any gym.

Whoa! That's high as giraffe ass! I'd rather a 24hr gym anyway because of my busy life. Heck, I cancelled my membership in the first round of p90x. I don't need no stinking gym anymore.

That's what most gyms start at out here, unless you negotiate your monthly memebership fee down.

Most gyms around here advertise for $20 or less per month.

course thats just the add and not the fine print.

I tried to join the Y and they had me fill out the forms and list my income...TELLING me that the monthly fee was income based. So I delved a bit deeper. It seems if you are an underpriveledged person, you and your family get in FREE or for a minute amount per month. But, I made money, so I was being told it was $120+ a month. I told them to go to hell and stopped filling out the forms at the income portion and tore them up.

That is just BULL SHIP in my world.

Yeah, i think our Aspen Athletics club is pretty close to that as well. The local gyms in town though are closer to $20 or $30 a month, but they also don't have pools, hot tubs, and spas....

No family membership fees? A lot of clubs have reduced rates for family memberships... My wife pays $73/mo for her membership, but she likes the swanky stuff. I pay $58 at another gym which is close to where I work. Working out is expensive!

I love my YMCA, i'm still connected to my parents plan so i dont pay (they are so awesome). But once me and the fiance get a house I'm just going to make a gym room and skip paying gym fees.

Holy Crap... I pay $250 a YEAR to use my local rec center, with 2 lap pools a kid pool and a diving pool, an ice rink, weight room/treadmills, and a basket ball gym.

Heck my local gym costs only $450 for the year.

Several years back I did community service at a Y, judge sent me there to rack up hrs, work 1 and they count it as 4.

Anyways I wondered why the parking lots was full of $50,000 SUVs and soccor Moms running in and out, you gotta be a rich yuppie to afford the Y
