DietCoke....KNOWING how the mail can be spotty....tell her this and do it....at the top of every letter you send, put the date, that way as she gets the mail, even if its delayed, she will KNOW you were thinking of her that very day, and it also creates a timeline for her. I did this when I was in, it was especially important when I was overseas.

Sorry to hear that. Fort Sill is where my son went to basic. We'll get some encouragement out to her.

Bummer! I'm sure basic is rough enough without having the flu on top of it! Sending lots of good vibes her way so she gets better soon. Hang in there-- I'm sure it's tough but you being strong will help her make it through.

I was a Drill there at Sill, I know it is tough on them, but you gotta make Soldiers, let her rest up and she'll be good as new.
What's her MOS? Where is she going after basic? |

Almost everyone gets sick in basic. All the different germs from around the country get stirred in together and out comes one huge super bug, which is why you get a penicillin shot during the first few weeks. Definitely sucks, she'll survive though

Hey man Im stationed at Sill. Been here for about 7 years now and did my basic here. I know it can be hard but these DS are the best in the world. They will take care of your wife. She is almost done with the basic part then it will be off to AIT. Just keep what you are doing and send her lots of letters and keep her moral up. Before she knows it it will be all over and she can look back on it and say "hell I did that, it was not that hard". Everyone gets sick in basic. I got the flu, pink eye, and dropped a 96lb artillery round on my foot. All part of training. I will send her a card this week to help cheer her up. When you talk to her again tell her to keep her head up, learn all she can because it will help later down the road, and thank you for joining in this time of war. Welcome to the team!!
and hey diet coke, thank you for your sacrifice. Army Strong!

But no just fun and games. I was going to join the Air Force but decided not to. Was going to school to become a airline pilot but put it on the back burner to serve. If i would have gone in, it would have been to be a C17 pilot. My last trip to Iraq I got to sit in the jump seat of a globemaster on the flight from Ali Al Salem to Joint Base Balad. That was fun as I got to talk pilot talk with the pilots. But hey nothing but respect for all my brothers and sisters regardless of there branch. Worked with lots of Air Force over my 3 tours in Iraq. GO AIR FORCE!! (Chair Force )

I will send a letter for sure.
*time for a story* When I was in basic, I had a fairly solid temp of 100+ for about a week. I finally went to sick call and was told to be SIQ(bed rest). That lasted all of about 3 hours when my drill instructor scared the shit out of me with repercussions for every hour I was in the rack... Good times, I miss basic, hahah. |
