Something to play during the wait period
You've probably heard of it, but maybe you haven't.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It is a FREE team based First Person Shooter set in WWII times. Allies/Axis You can be 5 different jobs: Soldier, Medic, Field Ops, Engineer, or Covert Ops. You gain experience and skills like in RPGs. Fast paced, with good amounts of health (unlike realistic games like CounterStrike) This is the server I always play in: Evil Smurfs Lair 67.18.198.243:27960 Server rules are no spawnkilling and no self kill during battles. It is a pretty good server because of the rule of no SKing, and there isn't a bunch of addons. They serve the basic 6 levels. XP Resets at 10,000 and XP Save is a month IIRC. And NO Bots! My name is Camaro. An easier way to log in, is to download "The All Seeing Eye" server finding software. There is a shareware version that works perfect for free.

To download it, go here http://enemyterritory.com/ and enter the site, select "Downloads," and then Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Download the base install as well as the latest update.
Enemy Territory Quake Wars is the new ET that is coming out very soon, but will not be free.

I don't know the first part of downloading all eye seeing software, bots, etc, but I will tell you that I played and beat Return to Castle Wolfenstein. That game got me hooked. If I can find another game like that one, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat. Loved it.

Well this is the game that is a standalone mod of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It has all the weapons you are familiar with (I haven't actually played RTCW but I saw someone play and they had a few weapons that were used in the ET mod).
Some of the weapons used in ET are panzerfausts, mp40, thompson, sten, fg42, k43 w/ rifle grenade attachment. You can do things within each job like repair vehicles, construct objects, heal players, revive players, give out ammo, call in artillery support, and steal enemy uniforms The original plan was for this company to sell Enemy Territory, but I guess the game just didn't have enough depth to market it. So, it was released for free a few years ago. Best of all, it is FREE I just recommend All Seeing Eye because everytime you open ET, you either dial in the IP you are looking for in the console, or you have to search through a refreshed list of servers. With All Seeing Eye, you can pick a server, and never refresh your list, and always connect to it. Hassle free. If you use ET, you will see what I mean. It isn't needed though!! BTW, I am NOT sure if it is Vista compatible

If I get some free time on my hands, I'll have to give it a shot. Sounds pretty cool.

Back when I used to play video games, my friends and I used to play this game all the time. I have to say, it is definitely one of the best multiplayer FPS games out there.
Big recommendation to anyone who's into games and has some free time on their hands. |
