Ethanol vote - Tuesday

Maybe we will finally get this $hit out of our fuel!

From the hill:

http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-actio...ol-tax-credits

Senate to vote on amendment to strip ethanol tax credits
The Senate on Tuesday will hold a procedural vote on an amendment that would eliminate about $6 billion in tax credits provided annually to subsidize blenders of ethanol.
The vote comes after the amendment’s sponsor, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), presented 16 signatures from other senators to the Senate clerk Thursday and demanded that a vote to limit debate be placed on the schedule.
Coburn has been pushing for a vote on the amendment throughout the year, selling it as an important step toward slashing out-of-control government spending.
"If Congress can't cut a corporate welfare subsidy the corporations themselves don't want, what can we cut?" asked Coburn in March when he was attempting to attach the amendment to the Small Business Administration (SBA) funding bill. "Ethanol is a case study of how parochialism trumps progress in Congress. Sooner or later, the Senate will take a vote on this issue."
Coburn’s amendment would repeal the Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit, scratching the 45-cent blender tax credit for ethanol and the 54-cent tariff on imported ethanol.

Never had, and never will have an issue with Ethanol.

Don't care for the tax subsidy as-is, though...this will be interesting to follow.

Ethanol is corn. Everything you eat and drink has it. This is why food prices are to high..I heat my home with corn . The price of corn has tripled over three years.

anywho My only issue is E15 which could possible harm vehicles.

Just a Thought: IF car manufacters like GM gave their performance cars an E85 Tuned for more Horsepower since E85 is similar to race gas, I bet the performance junkies would buy it. Those guys aren't exactly into Fuel econmy anyways.

Meh, been using E15 in all my vehicles without issue so far. And as for the 'ethanol is stealing corn from our food supply' comment, I'm fairly sure that the corn used for ethanol is not the type used for human consumption. Could be wrong on that, don't feel like putting in the effort to research right now :P

I haven't seen any breaking news on it today.

The Post ran this article last Friday. Guess there is more to it than just getting rid of the subsidies, aka....politics as usual....
