Random Shop Photo.. Engine Build

Sometimes I post random photos to show a quick glimpse of what is going on in the shop. I had to email some photos of a customer's engine, so I figured I'd shoot a photo of what's going on in engine build this time since I usually post the vehicle install side of the shop.

Uncovered for a better view...

From left to right..

4V 4.6 based 298ci stroker, Livernois stage 3 CNC heads, custom cams

2V 5.4 based shortblock, Livernois CNC Trickflow heads, custom cams

4V 5.4 based GT wet sump aluminum block shortblock, Carrillo rods, custom Livernois/Diamond pistons

4V 5.0L based 306ci stroker, Livernois CNC heads, custom cams

LSX 440ci stroker shortblock for twin turbo 2010 Camaro build

6.1 based 419ci HEMI stroker shortblock

How much of an increased stroke did you go with on the 4v 5.0 based 306 stroker? I would have thought it would have to just be bored just slightly as in a rebuild.

The engine already has a larger stroke from the factory, so the gain from adding stroke is not as large. The deck height has remained the same, so this makes it nearly impossible for a much larger stroke unless you want to sleeve it.

NICE!!!! What kind of gains are yall getting with the H/C 306 5.0??

Also with the stroker HEMI's, have yall built any with a large cam yet? You know, like the ones LS engines run? lol anything in the 240/50/60 range yet? Thanks

....? ok

that's why I posted my question, you have the 306 listed as a 4v 5.0 STROKER. What kind of STROKER kit are you using to bump up the STROKE to get a measley 4 ci out of it?

We haven't tested it yet. It's going in our car shortly.

Most of the Hemi's we do have a power adder, so no need for a huge cam.... though I'd like to see an all out big cammed N/A build.

We have our own kit. The piston and rod were designed by us and for this build, it just used an offset ground factory crank. It ran pretty good N/A with stock cams and normal bolt-on's. We don't plan on seeing much of a gain from the small increase in displacement, but if were taking apart, why not add a little. The previous cars were able to get 17ci from a stroker, but it's not possible with the 5.0.

Cool! Cant wait to read and hear the cammed 5.0 results.

You may not need a huge cam with a power adder but it sure doesnt hurt to have one! lol A good friend of mine has a 426 300 with a 8.3L Whipple and he runs a cam in the 250/260's range. Now only if we could crack the TCM and spin the damn thing to 7k to take full advantage of it!

BTW Those are some crazy looking pistons!!!
