Ok, dont hate me, but tough choice!
Ok, there are TONS of 07-08 gt500s with less than 10k miles selling for 33-35k. I currently have a 1ss/rs on order, so i will be spending around the same for either car. now i absolutely love the new camaro, but the gt500 has always been a dream. while the camaro is a brand new model, it will still be mass produced, and the shelby will always be a shelby while i feel the camaro will soon be old news just like the new mustangs. HALP!
Edit: I know this is a camaro site, but i hope you guys can leave the bias out of this. |

To tell you the truth, all bias aside, I don't see anyone paying as much for a 1SS as for a GT 500. Even If you get all the options.
So I don't see how you would spend the same amount on each one. Unless you plan on modding the Camaro as soon as you get it, but I would consider those expenses apart from the total price. |

For some, just that fact that the car is manufactured by Ford is enough to disqualify it from consideration. To others, the opposite is true. Is there an immediate need to make a decision on your part? If not, why not wait until the Camaro hits the showroom and, if they let you, drive one and get a feel for it. Then go drive a GT500, again, if they let you. Then you can make a decision from an informed position. The low mile, GT500's are going to be out there for some time, so don't think that if you don't act immediately you will miss your opportunity to buy one. On a related note, here is a video that does a decent job of mixing the heritage of the classic Shelby and the new version: Last edited by garagelogic; 02-07-2009 at 08:05 AM. |

I love mustangs, have had quite a few of them. Get the camaro, the name shelby doesnt mean that much anymore. He has whored himself out to ford and z max. I would have rather they just kept it named a cobra, I guess just putting the word "shelby" on it makes it something special?

For me personally I would rather have the brand new car for the same money. At the end of the day though, you should buy the car that you want.

Seriously, a lot of them are low miles and hardly driven. A lot of people initially went out and bought these cars thinking they would be produced for two years only and in low numbers. Now that they have realized that the GT500 will be carried on through 2010, at least, many of them are selling. That and the current economic issues in the country are forcing some to divest themselves of their toys. Unfortunate for them, a blessing for those who are looking to get into one.
