When I was a kid our tradition was for Dad to hide in his bedroom all day drinking while everyone else got drunk in the living room ,and if we were really lucky Dad would pop his head out long enough to tell every to keep it the "f" down I'm trying to sleep.

Oh those day''s were so special.

I guess that's why my daughter is spoiled, and I spend a month lighting up the house just to see her happy.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

We do the midnight mass. Afterwords, tamales, crown royal, and one gift before bed!

My wife makes home made Caramels and the rest of the family cuts and packages them for the rest of the family.

As a small kid, we'd do Christmas Eve at my Dad's Parents' house and then go to my Mom's Parents' house on Christmas Day. We moved 1/2 way across the country when I was 9, so after that, we would alternate Christmas visits (every other year) back "home".

As an adult, my traditions have been largely non-existent due to me being either deployed or stationed overseas anyway, though I always put up a tree and lights or other decorations (even in Iraq).

Since being home and now out of the Army and a new father, we're establishing our own new traditions. Mommy made cookies for Santa and we went to see Santa this past Sunday. We'll be going to my folks' new place down in Texas for Christmas and then will see my wife's Dad and Brothers over the MLK Jr weekend in January. Nothing like Minnesota in January.

This year it's a nice quiet Christmas at home, just me and the man. We'll call his mom (she is the only surviving parent either of us has) in her nursing home, his daughter, my brother, and the son of my heart to wish them and their families Merry Christmas.
We have a tree, and lights, and a bottle of vanille rum, a turkey with all the trimmings, we're just going to hang around together.

Since I was little, my folks made ornaments with the kids pictures placed in them. I kept up with it, and so did my mother - I've got 43 of me, now my boys have 35 between them and my father has passed. Mom still sends me an ornament every year, but now it's up to me to put a picture in it. So this year there are 78 family pictures on my tree. Time for a bigger tree, I think.

Family craft projects on Turkey day and Xmas eve.

Been asking to build a crystal radio for years, did get to build car models 2 back at my request. That cost me money as I forgot how detailed models were, and had to go get 3 snap togather ones at the last sec or risk a problem with time

as a kid, we always went to my moms parents the week before xmas for the FAMILY Christmas (well when we were in the state being an Army bratt we spent most of our time up in Alaska)

It was one of the only time that I got to see the extended family all moms sisters & her brother came over & we kids all slept out on the living room floor or crapped in one of the bedrooms, talking & giggling. (my two sisters & I were the Youngest so by the mid 80s , the older grandkids were already bringing their kids)

but that all ended in 96 when both my grandparents passed away just months of each other (my son got to meet them but he was just 5months old., mu daughter didnt)

At the house it was always a disappointment due to the fact that my parents were always fighting. It was Merry Christmas & OH by the way thats your birthday present as well.

Now adays its we normally try to put the tree up the friday or saturday after thanksgiving (the last couple years its just been up a few days before christmas lol its not even up now)

we normally open up presents after I cook breakfast (again this year theres not really going to be anything under the tree) & then I normally do a full dinner for everyone.

then they watch football.

Man I miss my grandparents
