Why aren't there, STILL better deals if they have that much in excess?

So, why don't they lower MSRP and ban markups? If they dont, then dont bitch to the consumer or governments when cars don't move.

Supply and demand. With a dramatic decrease in demand, price should drop. However, they're going the route of cutting supplies (it'll take a while) in order to keep price up. I wonder if their current production levels are still outpacing demand or if they're slowly using up their stock of cars. It seems to me that it's only a matter of time before the manufacturers drop price in order to move some cars, even if they're selling them at a loss. Eventually it becomes more expensive to keep them than it does just to get them out of their hair.

It was bound to happen. With cars lasting longer and being more reliable by the day, people are buying less often.

Yup...toyota rented out a couple extra acres at a West Coast port a few weeks ago to store imported cars...dealers basically told them to shove it and refused to accept delivery or something like that.

Hello!
|
I've been puzzled myself at not seeing better deals by now! I really don't understand how dealers and the Big 3 have not come up with something to move their stock!
Even if you sell for costs you aren't losing money...and selling for anything right now might be better than not selling at all! 2009 will be a very interesting year for car sales...I still think the deals are coming, just can't figure out why they haven't already! |

Worse comes to worse: save money and recycle them into newer cars. Cheaper than to just sell them off. They already have the materials right there, why not use them in a product that actually can be sold for profit instead of siting on a lot in Long Beach rotting away?
