March 31st - Loan check

GM needs to have a plan in place by February 17th and implemented by March 31st to keep the loans coming. If GM was turned down on the 31st, what would this do to Camaro production?

The same thing that COULD happen to the rest of GM. The govt could "call in" the original loan forcing GM into Chapter 7.

Highly unlikely now that the Dem's are in control.

What Tom said. No way are the Dems letting the auto industry fail.

just another thread from some dude trying to put a damper on everything gm has accomplished

i like to call them pessimestic camaro or gm hatters

the us treasury --- the federal reserve and bush have given gm billions -- now you want to say the government is gonna say ahh heck with the billions we gave them -- the heck we are in a recession that would fall into a deep depresson not pnly for our country but around the world ( by the way is why gm got the money to begin with so this wouldnt happen) this was what less than a month ago???

they havent even gotten into restructing yet--they havent even had time to properly diostribute the money they did get!!!!!!!!

it seems like every time gm starts seeing the light ---spme hater comes on here to try and depress everyone again

now i dont know if this is an aticle hes read (no url) --or just his feelings -- either way gm will get all the money they need-----please stop with all the negitivity

Steady-on there...it was just a question. StoutFiles has been around here for a little while, and I very much doubt he's a GM or Camaro hater.

Ya know, my father is fairly heavily involved in the restructuring operation. He was talking this weekend about how GM is handling the loan agreement, and negotiating with the UAW, and the stakeholders. Its quite amazing how dynamic they've made their management to handle the terms of the loan. He said they've formed 26 separate task forces which each handle a negotiation or a clause of the agreement. They have lawyers and upper management all over this thing, most of them doing things they've never had to do before. Its very interesting to hear him talk about whats going on.

On a side note, I notice more and more that GM vehicles are getting respect they have never had in the past. Online car magazines and review sites are now putting chevy's, caddy's, and buicks atop their charts, rather than tearing them a new one. And the community is finally starting to realize it too. Its inspirational to see someone with a username like GT-RRules! say something like "Man GM is really putting out some kick ass vehicles". My dad says he feels R&D have done their job, manufacturing has done their job, now its up to the marketing dept to do their job. If people outside of the car forum sites start seeing what GT-RRules! saw, America might just have a chance at retaining their automotive industry. On so many levels, I hope that occurs.
