OT-Any GM employees/retirees-GM IPO
I fell asleep at the switch and didn't meet the 10/22 registration date. Just curious what the details were. How many shares or $s, min/max. Do you have to hold for any period. For example, if you buy tomorrow can your sell tomorrow? etc. Just curious as I think I may have missed a chance for a few quick bucks. Love IPOs but difficult to get in for the average guy like me.
BTW- Did read search threads but didn't see one that addresses these questions. Last edited by Fogey; 11-17-2010 at 03:16 PM. Reason: add'l info |

Why?
Are you basing that solely on the logic of 'they went bankrupt once, they'll do it again before I can sell'?

Long as China still loves Buick, GM can go no where but up.
When or if China's intrest drop off, sell. |

Big risky move IMO. I hope I'm wrong, but there's still way too much baggage with GM as a business coupled with the fact that even if the fed sells some stocks, we still own 40% of GM. Not what a lot of investors have faith in.
If you buy it at 33 or thereabouts, be prepared to keep it for a while. Or dollar cost average to keep the pain minimal. Remember, when it comes to investments, keep your emotions out of it. You will likely lose your shirt if you don't. I hope I'm wrong.

Also depends on how ricch you are, buy enough and a .25-$1 gain that will happen can be worth millions.
Only down side to stocks; being the little guy. |

Fen's right min. of 50 shares.
When you registered you "requested" the amount you wanted to buy and then you were reserved a number up to that amount. We were "reserved" the amount we requested, so I am not sure if there was a limit? We also plan on holding ours so I am not sure if there was a time required to hold set or not. A lot of faith in the company and where they are headed. I guess I don't buy into the Government Motors conspiracy theories... |
