Post Direction for Chevrolet

It occurred to me that the Camaro could be more than just an amazing vehicle from Chevrolet. With the gen1 Camaro as an inspiration for gen5, I believe that other great Chevys can follow suit.

While I understand the immense time, effort and money it took to develop our car, I propose that Chevrolet really acts as a central brand to have an entire line-up of "re-do" vehicles.

Look how it turned around other individual vehicles like the Volkswagen New Beetle and the Mustang from the earlier part of the 2000s.

I see how this can be a failure as well. I remember reading that the HHR is based on the gen1 Chevy Suburban. Why they shrunk the dimensions and didn't make it the new Suburban - I have no idea. In some regard, the gen6/7 Monte Carlo is based on historical Monte's.

What do you think? Can we see these again:

No. Retro styling works only on a few vehicles. Camaro's design influence will spread to the rest of the Chevrolet lineup (taillights on next-gen Malibu, front of next-gen Traverse, certain design cues on next-gen Silverado), but you won't see many more retro designs past that.

I like the idea (and have said this on other forums) of bringing back the 68' - 72' "Bull Nose" Nova...

No company does this. The reasons may vary, but no company does this.

What was the 1st retro/re-do? Do any companies even make more than 2 of these types of vehicles?

The SSR was as close to the el Camino as we'll probably get, its a mix of that and the 40's/50's pickups. Dodge has both the Charger, (not exactly a re-do) and the Challenger, They tried with the Prowler (to recreate some hotrods ::Fail:: ) Ford only has the mustang I believe.

It works with some cars if their is enough of a following but it doesnt work with all of them. And honestly if everything looked liek the original, where would the fun be in owning an retro muscle car, or even a new muscle car. Progress moves forward my friend ...

They need a cool truck. One that they will keep making. The Chevy SSR was awesome! Too bad the charged way too much for it which eventually killed it off:

Chevy has a really cool successor to the Colorado called the Montana. It's sort of like the ElCamino. But according to all accounts, though the are making it ans selling in South America, there is no intention to ever bring it to the USA. WHY?

You need a bit of perspective with the Montana...it's based on the Opel Corsa. The Corsa is smaller than the Opel Astra, which is a C-segment compact (Cobalt, Cruze). A truck that small probably wouldn't sell very well in the US.

The Holden Ute has better chances of making it stateside.

SSR pretty much failed as a "truck." It was fairly impractical, although I have seen someone hauling lumber in one at Home Depot.

Ute, on the other hand, is actually used in Australia as work trucks, so if marketed and priced correctly, they have a better chance of doing well here, particularly in more urban areas. Consider how many people you know who own trucks simply because they need a truck bed occasionally instead of for towing or constant hauling. Ute would offer a smaller, more practical solution to a full size for a lot of people.

I am a die hard GM supporter. It starts with looks. Gm drop the ball there for a while. The big boat Impala, was not a great looking car. The Aztek, who approve that? Some cars just did not jump out at you. They are doing a much better job now though.
